Instagram is an internet based app that allows you share photos either privately or publicly. It is available both in a mobile and desktop format. The app has become very attractive due to the number of monthly users which has grown to 700 million between 2010 when it was created and now. Creating an Instagram business account is one sure way of attracting prospective customers.
Why Instragram is Good for Business
There are many reasons why Instagram is good for business but here are the top four:
Pictures can speak louder than words. Pictures can elicit emotions and get viewers to connect with your brand in a dynamic way.
The app provides an opportunity to go viral through the re-posting function. As viewers share your pictures, they stand a chance of going viral thereby putting your brand in front of millions of potential customers.
Internet users spend more time on Instagram than any other social media network besides Facebook according to this research by comScore.
According to Shopify, visits that end with a purchase on Instagram will generate higher revenue than those of other social media platforms.

As you may already know we like to make your life easier with digital tips and tricks. We bring you tools we discover from time to time. One of such is Gamblr. Gamblr is a desktop application that lets you upload photos to Instagram from your laptops, personal computers and Macbook.
(Caution: Ensure you read the conclusion at the end of the article)
Sometimes you have a photo or photos on your desktop computer which you would like to upload to your Instagram profile. You might not want to go through the stress of transferring it to your phone first. Perhaps you lost your phone or just have quite a number of photos that are not on your phone. Gamblr is a great application to do this. There are a couple of others e.g. Deskgram etc. You can log in to your account via the Instagram website on a desktop computer but can’t upload photos.
So let’s dive straight into the steps, ready? Here we go!
Gamblr Step 1: Download and Install the Application
This was obvious right? Yeah yeah! It was still worth mentioning. Go to the website and download which ever one applies to you. Next you will need to install the executable (.exe) file you have downloaded. To install double-click on the .exe file. Once it begins, take a short stroll or go get a glass of water.
Now that you are back, we can move on to the next step.
Gamblr Step 2: Load the application and sign-up
The application should either be in your Start menu list or on your Desktop environment. Double-click on any of them to load the application. The application will prompt you to sign-up.
You should see something like this:
Gamblr Step 3: Sign into the application and click Upload Now
By now you already have an account and have linked your Instagram profile. Simply sign into the application and you will see an environment with different buttons and links. Click on “Upload Now” on the right of the environment. See image below:
Gamblr Step 4: Click on the Drag and Drop Box
You will then need to click on the Drag and Drop image box to select the image you want to upload. The image for upload should be saved where you can easily access it. This makes it quicker to drag and drop the image on Gamblr.
Gamblr Step 5: Set the Properties for Your Image
The next steps of screens allow you set different properties for your image. You will be prompted to select the size you want, add filters or motions. If you are unsure what size to choose, just select 1:1 and click “Save”. The next page after you save size prompts you to filter your image or apply motions to it. If you would like your image to appear as is, click “Continue”. The next page to be displayed is the “Caption” page which leads us to Step 6.
See images below for guidance on Step 5:
Gamblr Step 6: Type in Caption and Tag People
Simply type in your caption in the page displayed after you have carried out Step 5. Here is where you enter all your hashtags etc. Right beneath your image you can tag whoever you want to tag. Just enter their Instagram username if you remember it.
See image below:
Gamblr Step 7: Choose When To Post Image and Click Send/Schedule As The Case May Be
This is the final step! Gamblr lets you choose when to upload an image or video. You can send immediately or “some other time”. With “some other time”, you can schedule posts (See image below). Whatever you choose to do, clicking the send button publishes the post whether immediately or later. The con of scheduling posts with Gamblr is that you have to be online with the app at the scheduled time for it to publish the post.
It’s worth noting that nothing beats using the Instagram mobile app. Other apps are not as secure and great as the Instagram mobile app. Only use Gamblr and other apps when you absolutely need to. Apps like Gamblr will come in handy at such times. Do your best to avoid the free likes, gaining followers and coins. Ensure you have your anti-virus updated and working properly. Also read the Gamblr terms and conditions and be sure you are fine with them before downloading the app.
Let us know if you know of other desktop apps like Gamblr. Also let us know if you have had any issues using the app. Do share this article within your social media community, you never know who it may help.
PS: Do not consider this article a recommendation of the app. You can read a review of the app online before proceeding to download it.

In May 2016, Facebook announced the launch of its Free Basics service in Nigeria, its largest African market. Free Basics is part of the Internet.org initiative created by Facebook. The service allows users access Facebook and other websites at no cost to them. Here’s everything you should know about the service in Nigeria:
Free Basics Was Launched in Nigeria in Partnership with Airtel
The Free Basics service in Nigeria was launched in partnership with Airtel. What this means is that the service is only available to users on the network. The service was launched after Airtel CEO, Christian de Farai announced that it was launching the service in 17 African countries. The announcement was made in November 2015. Here were the words of the Airtel CEO:
“With Africa’s widest 3G network, Airtel has been at the forefront of the data revolution in Africa. We are cognizant of the power of internet in changing lives of communities and this partnership with Facebook will aid in bringing more people online and reduce the digital divide.”
Airtel already launched the service in Zambia, Kenya, Malawi, Ghana, Seychelles and Rwanda by the end of 2014. In the first phase after the 2015 announcement, it launched the service in Nigeria, DRC, Gabon and Niger.
Free Basics is also available on the 9Mobile network in Nigeria and Express Wifi (Coollink). I tested out the service on my 9Mobile network and it was quick, simple and clean.
2. Here Are The Services Available on Free Basics
Users of the platform will be able to access services like health, education, jobs, communication and local content with zero balance. Some of the websites available on the platform are listed below.
Ask a Doctor by Kangpe
There are a number of other websites you can access for free on the platform. You can check them out here. As at 2016, there were more than 85 of these services in all. Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, excitedly announced the availability of Jobberman on the platform. Facebook will clearly continue to work with Nigerian programmers to build local content that will make the platform attractive to users.
3. How To Access Free Basics On Your Phone
You can only access the platform on the Airtel and 9Mobile network in Nigeria. You can also access it via the Express Wifi (Coollink).
Here are the steps to access it on the 9 Mobile network:
Turn on your mobile data
Open a browser and type in this URL; https://0.freebasics.com/
Alternatively you can also download the Free Basics by Facebook app in your Google Play store
Here are the steps to access it on the Airtel network:
Turn on your mobile data. Remember the service is free so no worries.
Click “Continue” to accept the Terms. Enjoy the free services!
You can also access the service via the app from your Google Play store after you download it.
Here is a great article about how to get on the platform. It’s a great read if you need more details.
While there are arguments regarding the impact of the platform on net neutrality, it makes sense for many Nigerian users. There are about 34 million subscribers on the Airtel network and 19 million Nigerians offline. Many of these people will find the free platform attractive due to the high cost of data. If you have ever logged into your Facebook account and seen images or updates you never posted, these Facebook safety tips would definitely help. Perhaps you got feedback from your Facebook friends about seeing inappropriate content on your timeline. Worst still, has someone been using your account to defraud your friends? Keep reading. These simple Facebook safety tips will get you started on securing your Facebook account. They will help you prevent hackers from getting access to your account and like the saying goes, “Prevention is better than cure”.
Safety Tip 1: Never give out your Facebook password to anyone
While there might be an exception to the rule for say couples, you should never give out your Facebook password to anyone. This is one of the most important rules every internet safety expert will give you. Your password is your secret code to accessing your account, no other person should really have access to it. If you do not have access to the internet at home or on your mobile device, do not give your password to internet café operators. Not only are they likely to hack your account, they might leave it lying somewhere for another person to see.
Since many people use the same password for a number of their online accounts, they become vulnerable to attack. Once hackers or strangers have access to any of your passwords, it becomes easier for them to guess how you create your passwords. You can prevent attack by simply not giving your password to anyone.
Safety Tip 2: Do not store your password anywhere except password keepers
A follow-up to Tip 1 is that you shouldn’t store your Facebook password anywhere but a Password Keeper. Life Hacker has a great list of the Five Best Password Managers. You can read through them and decide on one. Do not write your password in a book or a piece of paper or anywhere else. Chances are you could lose them and someone else might get access to it. You can also search the Google Play store for a good Password Keeper if you own an Android phone. Check the reviews to see what other people are saying about the app. It will help inform your decision.
Safety Tip 3: It’s Unwise To Save Your Password On a Browser…….
….. Except maybe no one else has access to the device you used. Whenever you are working on a public computer or using a friend’s one, do not store your password on the browser. This is because there is a great possibility of another person getting access to your Facebook account especially if you forget to log out correctly. A number of the popular browsers offer you an option to “Remember” or “Save” your password. If you do not have exclusive access to the device, ignore the option. It will save you the headache of a hacked account. So far we have covered three Facebook safety tips, keep reading for two more.
Safety Tip 4: Always check to ensure you are signed in on only one device
This is number four of our Facebook safety tips. This is a good way to ensure no one else has access to your Facebook account. To do this, simply follow these steps:
Go to your Facebook settings, it’s on the rightmost dropdown icon on your desktop computer. A new window will open.
Click on the ‘Security and Login’ icon to your left.
Once the page opens up, scrolled down to the “Where I am logged in” section. It shows the devices are on which you are currently logged into.
You may also scroll down to the “Setting up extra security” section to get alerts on unrecognized logins and further secure your Facebook account.
Setting up an extra security layer:
Safety Tip 5: Always stay up to date with the Facebook privacy & security basics, updates and other tools
